Saver's Credit and New Deferral Limits for 2015

The IRS has announced new contribution limits for 2015. Participants can now defer up to $18,000 per year into their 457 and 401k plans. Click on the link above for tables on how the maximum deferral could impact your paycheck. Also, check to see if you are eligible for the Saver's credit which is designed to help those in the lower income bracket to save for retirement.

Rancho Santa Fe, CA Welcomes FrontLine Plan

Jody Maccormack, retirement specialist with Nationwide Retirement Solutions, began working with Rancho Santa Fe, CA in April 2013. With support from IAFF Local 4349, the fire district is adopting the IAFF-FC FrontLine Plan, effective July 1. The district employees will now have choices when investing their retirement dollars. Previously, the district only offered ING. There are 51 eligible employees, of which 40 are fire-service professionals.

Grandview, MO adds FrontLine Plan for IAFF Members

Previously Grandview only had one deferred compensation plan available. Recently, the city of Grandview added the FrontLine Plan as an alternative place our members to invest their supplemental retirement dollars. Wade Sunderman is the Nationwide Retirement Specialist who will provide education and service to the members who join the plan. The plan was implemented in January 2014 and 100% of the members transferred out of the ICMA-RC plan and into the FrontLine Plan.

FrontLine plan now available to Hartford, VT Local 2905 members

Hartford, VT President Scott Cooney of Local 2905 is pictured with Nationwide Retirement Solutions Representative Paul Bertrand as he signs up for the IAFF-FC FrontLine 457 Plan. The plan was recently implemented and over 70% of the members have signed up to discuss doing the same.

National City, CA implements the FrontLine Plan for Local 2744 members

National City, CAPreviously National City, CA only had one deferred compensation plan available. Recently, the city of National City added the FrontLine Plan as an alternative place for Local 2744 members to invest their supplemental retirement dollars. Anna Ramos is the Nationwide Retirement Specialist who will provide education and service to the members who join the plan. Anna has already signed up over 62% of the IAFF Members in the department and will be adding the rest in the coming months.

East Peoria, IL implements the FrontLine Plan for Local 1498

Previously East Peoria, IL only had one deferred compensation plan available. After many months of negotiations, the city of East Peoria added the FrontLine Plan as an alternative place for Local 1498 members to invest their supplemental retirement dollars. Tom O’Conner is the Nationwide Retirement Specialist who will provide education and service to the members who join the plan.

Mattoon, IL adds the FrontLine Plan for Local 691 members

Due to the hard work and dedication of President Bart Owen and his Executive Board, the City of Mattoon, Illinois has made the FrontLine Plan available to the members of Local 691. Tom O'Connor is the Nationwide Retirement Specialist who will be providing on-going service and education for the members in the Mattoon plan.

HELPS Information

Health Care Enhancement for Local Public Safety Officers. HELPS is a new retiree health care benefit that provides a tax-free distribution of up to $3,000 from retirement plans to help retirees pay for health insurance or long-term care insurance.

City of Great Falls, MT makes the FrontLine Plan available to Local 8 members

After several years of persistence and dedicated efforts by the leadership of Local 8, the city of Great Falls recently implemented the IAFF-FC FrontLine plan, administered by Nationwide Retirement Solutions, for IAFF members. Now these members have a choice in where they invest their supplemental retirement assets. Ongoing service and education will be provided to the participants by NRS representative Ryan Gillette.

Bessemer, AL Local 980 now has the FrontLine Plan

Due to the hard work and dedication of President Ronald Moorehead and his Executive Board, the City of Bessemer, Alabama has made the FrontLine Plan available to the members of Local 980 and to all city employees. Scott Curtis is the Nationwide Retirement Specialist who will be providing on-going service and education for the members in the Bessemer plan. During the initial enrollments meetings over 75% of the members transferred to the new offering.

Auto and Home Insurance

IAFF members and retirees in the United States now have access to group savings on auto and home Insurance. The IAFF-FC has teamed with Liberty Mutual to offer you Group Savings Plus®. This program allows you to purchase high-quality auto, home, and renters insurance at a discounted rate through the convenience of automatic checking account deductions or direct bill at home. Canadian Members

IAFF members and retirees in Canada now have access to a group home and auto insurance program. McKinney, TX Local 4017 Implements FrontLine Plan

The city of McKinney, TX has made the IAFF-FC FrontLine Plan, which is administered by Nationwide Retirement Solutions, available to members of Local 4017. Michelle Diaz of NRS will be responsible for ongoing education and service to the members of Local 4017.


IAFF-FC Offers Retiree Health Plans

The IAFF-FC recognizes that many IAFF retirees no longer have access to their former employer's health plan. The IAFF-FC has teamed with UnitedHealthcare and its affiliates to provide retirees access to quality health insurance options. These plans are individually underwritten and retirees looking for insurance to fit their budget and coverage needs have access to a spectrum of insurance plans, such as:

  • short-term medical plans

In 2005 the IAFF Financial Corporation launched a new web site specifically for the FrontLine program. The site offers retirement planning tools, calculators, and online access to your IAFF-FC FrontLine 457 Plan or Nationwide® 457 account. This is an exciting new tool for IAFF members to learn about deferred compensation, to review and check activity in your account, and to learn about other IAFF-FC/NRS programs such as the Post Employment Health Plan.
